Thought you raw milk drinkers might find this interesting (if you don't already know)...

Chad & I were in California back in March. Since you can legally purchase raw milk in grocery stores in that state, we just couldn't leave there without actually doing it!!!! (and, of course, as any true bloggers would.....we took photos....see below!!).

The milk was conveniently available at natural health stores (not sure about conventional supermarkets b/c we never went to one), but that convenience definitely came at a price.....$10 per half gallon to be exact!!!! Suddenly those "on farm" raw milk prices we pay in Nebraska don't look so bad, huh!?!?!

Please note the WARNING label posted in front of the milk at Whole Foods. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seems to me that in the spirit of full disclosure, they should also be posting plenty of signs in front of the pasteurized milk products (and maybe some blinking lights and a siren or something, for that matter)!!!!!!!!

Yes, we've gotten milk from Bryants before. Thanks!!! I'm pretty sure that the CA price has mostly to do with the overhead costs involved in supplying the milk at the actual stores (surely there's more "waste" involved, etc.)??? Of course, raw milk prices can vary widely depending on what the cows are fed (especially through the winter months when fresh pasture is not available in NE), what breed of cows they are (some less traditional breeds have actually been bred to produce higher yields, which can lower costs for that farmer), etc.

Raw milk is tasty. There is a place in Bennington that has grass-fed, raw cow milk for about$5 per gallon.

California cows must produce yummy milk for that price.
